Update From the Calvert County Board of Elections

The following is a message from the Calvert County Board of Elections we would like to share with you, to help keep you updated on the upcoming 2024 Presidential Election. If you have any questions regarding the election, where to vote, how to register, etc, please feel free to reference our website, or reach out to us or the Calvert County Board of Elections.

As we kick off the new year in 2024, the Calvert County Election Board wanted to make you aware that the State Board has mailed the Maryland Mail-in Ballot Application Form to eligible voters during the first week of January. These mailers include a prepaid return envelope. For more detailed information, please check the website: http://elections.maryland.gov/voting/absentee.html .

In mid-January, the State Board will be mailing the Maryland Permanent Mail-In Ballot List Confirmation letter to voters who have elected to be on the permanent mail-in ballot list. This letter is to confirm that our records show the voters correct information as to where and how to deliver their ballot. The voter will only need to mail this completed confirmation letter back to our office if there are changes to be made to their record.

Secondly, during the middle of March, voters that are on the Permanent Mail-In Ballot list will be receiving their ballots through their designated delivery method. Around the first few weeks in April, we will be installing the Maryland State drop boxes throughout the county for voters to drop their mail-in ballots inside. The ballot drop box locations will be at Northeast Community Center, Southern Community Center, Community Resources Building, and Fairview Library. These drop boxes will be under 24-hour surveillance and our office staff will be collecting these ballots daily.

Additionally, voters will begin receiving voter notification cards if their polling place has changed. This mailing should be sent by January 19th.

Lastly, we also would like you to be aware of the three early vote sites that we will have for the 2024 Presidential Primary election. One early vote site will be at the Southern Community Center in Lusby, another at the Community Resources Center on 30 Duke Street and a temporary building will be at Ward Farm Recreation and Nature Park in Dunkirk. The early voting centers will be open during the hours of 7am-8pm on May 2nd -9th, 2024. Same day registration will be allowed on those days.
